You may have noticed we’ve been talking a lot about an ingredient called amla — one of the star ingredients of NEW Invati Advanced Scalp Revitalizer. But what IS amla? The vitamin C-rich herb amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is used to provide instant thickening to the hair. (It’s also found in Thickening Tonic!)
For generations, this herb has been used in Ayurveda for its many benefits, including helping to create thick, lustrous hair.
We source certified organic amla from the Indian firm Nisarga Biotech, headquartered in Satara, India. Nisarga, meaning “nature” in Sanskrit, is based on smart business practices for producing effective herbs that are a part of a balanced ecosystem.
“Organic farming is not just about farming, but about being a human being to others,” says Girish Soman, CEO and co-founder of Nisarga Biotech. “It is about cleaning up the chemicals and pesticides that affect our ecosystem.”
Nisarga Biotech grows Ayurvedic herbs using organic and biodynamic agriculture on its own farms, and through its farming partners. The firm gains partners by encouraging farmers to convert to organic agriculture by holding seminars and providing ongoing educational support to help make conversion successful. Within this time, Nisarga has directly converted a number of farms in India to certified organic methods.
